Historical Significance:
The remains of 58 soldiers, Indian scouts and civilians, all of whom died between 1860 and 1880, were reinterred at the Historic Soldiers Memorial Cemetery, located within the Southern Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery. During a construction project in Tucson, these remains were discovered in an old cemetery close to the disestablished Camp Lowell.

The governor, federal-level Arizona representatives, and ASDAR State Regent, Jo Andress, were among the more than 500 in attendance.
