Fort Huachuca

Historical Significance:     
The fort was established March 3, 1877, to bring law and order to the Arizona Territory. Its troops won the surrender of Apache leader Geronimo. From 1913 until 1933, the fort was the base for the Buffalo Soldiers of the 10th Cavalry Regiment. As the Army's electronic proving ground, today Fort Huachuca is one of the busiest Army installations.
