Historical Significance:
Commemorating the South Entrance to the Old Walled City, which was founded by the Spanish Government as a Presidio. The Old Walled City of Tucson became part of the United States after the Gadsden Purchase in 1853, and it was the largest city in the Gadsden Purchase.
